Starbucks Frappuccino v. Shakeology Cinnamon Coffee Frap — Healthy: YUM-E!

Gotta love a quick breakfast. It's hard to find time in the morning to make a healthy meal. So, to fast-food run, or to find something quick and easy from home?

You could run to Starbucks... I used to do this WAY too often. I'd wait in the line for about 10 minutes (ain't nobody got time for lines in the morning). I don't even like Starbucks coffee... anyone else think it's bitter?
Plain coffee - $3
Previously cooked "healthy" turkey sausage english muffin sandwich - $4
...I feel guilty before it even got in my hands.
Tax and all: about $7.50

I need something quicker, more affordable, and actually healthy.

I used Shakeology a while back and just got back into using the superfood shake mix. I don't want to call it a protein shake, because its got a lot more than protein in it.

I started making shakes again this week, and this morning's was BOMB! Coffee and breakfast shake in one? Yes, Please!

Cinnamon Coffee ShakeO Frappuccino

1/2 cup chilled coffee*
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
1/2 t. vanilla extract
1 scoop Vanilla Shakeology
2 t. flax seeds
1/4 t. Cinnamon
5-7 ice cubes (depending how big they are, & how thick you like your shake)

Blend all ingredients in blender. 1 1/2 minutes later, ENJOY a guilt-free, PACKED with superfood nutrients on-the-GO!
Total for all ingredients: about $4.75

*When I have leftover coffee, I sometimes store in a tupperware to use the next day. That is PERFECT for this shake!*

Are you one of those people that say they have no time for breakfast? Do you not eat breakfast because you think it saves calories? Do you get bored by the quick breakfast options. Are you a $7-10 Starbucks/Dunkin/fastfood breakfast person?

This seriously is one of my absolute favorite quick breakfasts-on-the-go! I can pack this up in less than 3 minutes and eat it at my work desk (or at a red light...while STOPPED at a red light guys... I am not promoting eating-and-driving). This is also a great mid afternoon snack that won't weigh you down, literally or figuratively, is satisfying and most importantly YUM-E!

Fruit & Chia Greek Yogurt Parfaits - Healthy: YUM-E!

The combinations are endless when it comes to fruit and yogurt! Choose a light greek style yogurt, throw in some chia seeds and fresh fruit and you've got a sweet, protein packed breakfast or anytime-snack!

I prefer Yoplait 100 calorie yogurt cups; they are affordable, portion controlled, lower in sugar, and most importantly YUM-E! They have a large variety of flavors, too!

Let's talk superfood Chia Seeds for a moment. They are loaded with antioxidants, fiber, essential amino acids,

A 1 ounce (28 grams) serving of chia seeds contains:
Fiber: 11 g
Protein: 4 g
Fat: 9 g (5 of which are Omega-3s)
Calcium: 18% of the RDA
Manganese: 30% of the Recommended Daily Amount (RDA)
Magnesium: 30% of the RDA
Phosphorus: 27% of the RDA
They also contain a decent amount of Zinc, Vitamin B3 (Niacin), Potassium, Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) and Vitamin B2

Fruit & Chia Greek Yogurt Parfaits

1 100 calorie greek yogurt
1 T. Chia seeds
2 T. fresh fruit, chopped
1 T. nuts or granola (optional)

All you have to do is mix the yogurt, fruit and chia seeds (plus another healthy, crunchy item if desired), and let sit for at least 30 minutes to allow chia seeds to "bloom". The combination of creamy yogurt, with the almost soft pearl like texture of the chia seeds, plus the crunch of a nut or oat, then the sweet burst of fresh fruit... my kinda comfort food right there, yet it's Healthy: YUM-E!!

A couple of my favorite combos:

*Strawberry-Chia Greek Yogurt Parfait

**Mango-Walnut-Chia Greek Yogurt Parfait

The flavor possibilities are endless!
